LE 3.9M in emergency funds allotted May: Finance Ministry

CAIRO – 17 June 2017: A total value of LE 3.9 billion were allocated in May for food, railways, water and sanitation services, Egypt’s Ministry of Finance said Saturday.

The General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) was the biggest recipient in an allotted amount of LE 2.2 billion for food and bread ration cards and an additional $ 64.3 million are earmarked for purchasing 395,000 tons of imported wheat.

Minister of Finance Amr El- Garhy said in a statement that another LE 100 million set aside for financing and purchasing local wheat from domestic farmers.

Other allocations included LE 1.7 million for cleaning services in the North Sinai governorate, LE 220 million for the Egyptian Radio and Television Union, LE 98.5 million for the Cotton and Textile Holding Company, LE 64.6 million for the National Railways Authority and LE 62.5 million for the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater Management.

An additional LE 100 million were allocated for the Industrial Development Authority, LE 100 million for the National Journalism Authority, LE 49 million for the General Authority for Health Insurance and LE 2.6 million for the Supreme Council of Culture.
