EGX ends 2019 in green, market cap. gains LE5.2B

CAIRO – 31 December 2019: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended last session of 2019 in green, and market capitalization gained LE 5.19 billion, amid Egyptian purchases.

The benchmark EGX 30 rose 0.17 percent, or 24.3 points, to close at 13,961.56 points.

The equally weighted index EGX 50 hiked 0.10 percent, or 1.87 points, to end at 1,967.45 points

The small and mid-cap index EGX 70 jumped 1.07 percent, or 5.66 points, to close at 534.47 points, and the broader index EGX 100 climbed 0.51 percent, or 7.15 points to 1,398.1 points.

Market capitalization gained LE 5.19 billion, recording LE 708.27 billion, compared to LE 703.1 billion in Monday’s session.

The trading volume reached 116.34 million shares, traded through 19,441 transactions, with a turnover of LE 638.96 million.

Egyptian investors were net buyers at LE 48.66 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net sellers at LE 6.02 million, and LE 42.64 million, respectively.

Egyptian and Arab individuals were net sellers at LE 22.2 million, and LE 12.26 million, respectively, while foreign individuals were net buyers at LE 264,388.

Egyptian and Arab organizations bought at LE 70.86 million, and LE 6.24 million, respectively, while foreign organizations sold at LE 42.9 million.

National Housing for Professional Syndicates, East Delta Flour Mills, and Middle & West Delta Flour Mills were top gainers of the session by 9.97 percent, 9.26 percent and 7.54 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, Lecico Egypt, Raya Holding for Financial Investments, and The Egyptian Company for Construction Development-Lift Slab were top losers of the session by 9.31 percent, 7.83 percent, and 7.73 percent, respectively.

EGX recorded a semi-collective rise during Monday’s session, as: EGX30 rose 0.90 percent, EGX50 hiked 0.39 percent, and EGX 100 climbed 0.12 percent, while EGX 70 dipped 0.06 percent.
