EGX ends mid-week session in red, market cap. gains LE23.9M

CAIRO – 27 August 2019: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Tuesday’s session in red for the second consecutive session, adding about LE 23.9 million to market capitalization, amid foreign selling.

The benchmark EGX 30 declined 0.05 percent, or 7.53 point, to close at 14,283.5 points.

The equally weighted index EGX 50 declined 0.10 percent, or 2.09 points, to end at 2,138.35 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX 70 inched down 0.08 percent, or 0.44 points, to close at 544.13 points, and the broader index EGX 100 lessened 0.07 point, to 1,427.08 points.

Market capitalization gained LE 23.9 million, recording LE 753.10 billion, compared to LE 753.08 billion in Monday’s session.

The trading volume reached 279.73 million shares, traded through 21,039 transactions, with a turnover of LE 1.07 billion.

Foreign investors were net sellers at LE 154.87 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net buyers at LE 82.09 million, and LE 72.78 million, respectively.

Egyptian, Arab and foreign individuals were net buyers at LE 18.46 million, LE 4.98 million, and LE 6.94 million, respectively.

Egyptian and Arab organization bought LE 63.63 million and LE 67.79 million, respectively, while foreign organizations sold at LE 161.81 million.

Egyptian International Tourism Projects, The Arab Ceramic CO.- Ceramica Remas , and Sharm Dreams Co. for Tourism Investment were top gainers of the session by 5.64 percent, 5.36 percent and 5.14 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, Misr Duty Free Shops, Medical Packaging Company, and El Arabia Engineering Industries were top losers of the session by 16.33 percent, 6.16 percent, and 6.12 percent, respectively.

EGX ended Monday’s session in red, as EGX30 declined 0.35 percent, EGX50 dropped 0.70 percent, EGX70 inched down 0.74 percent, and EGX100 lessened 0.55 percent.
