CAIRO, 13 September 2018: The Trade and Industry Ministry has signed a cooperation protocol with EG-Gate portal to promote Egyptian products in world markets.

In a statement released on Thursday, Minister of Trade and Industry Amr Nassar said the protocol is aimed at boosting Egyptian exports and increasing the rates of foreign trade, through enhancing the role of marketing and e-commerce in all Egyptian companies, in addition to raising the institutional capabilities of companies in the field of e-commerce.

It, also, comes as part of the state's strategic goals for sustainable development (Egypt Vision 2030), to back the trade and industry sectors, push up the rates of Egyptian exports in global markets and increase the country's foreign currency inflows, he added.

For her part, CEO and managing director of EG-Gate Minas Ibrahim said the company's strategy for 2016-2020 is meant to offer further export opportunities to Egyptian companies, reduce the trade balance deficit and secure more job openings, as well as support small and medium-sized enterprises.

The protocol targets providing the necessary infrastructure and E-marketing services for Egyptian products, in addition to enhancing competitiveness of Egyptian products and linking Egyptian industries to global markets.

The agreement will work on providing online stores for Egyptian companies at the national e-commerce portal, with the aim of changing the general perception of Egyptian brands, she added.

The protocol seeks to create marketing and e-commerce sites and activate the electronic payment system to support financial inclusion efforts, she noted.
