Agriculture min. mulls with Sudanese counterpart intensifying joint cooperation

CAIRO - 28 August 2018: Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Ezziddin Abu Steit discussed with his Sudanese counterpart Abdullah Suleiman Abdullah means to intensify joint cooperation and give a new boost to integration between both countries in the agriculture, livestock and fisheries sectors.

This came in a meeting held here Tuesday at the Agriculture Ministry premises.

Abu Steit said that the meeting falls within the framework of the outcome of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s recent visit to Sudan, during which he met with his Sudanese counterpart Omar al Bashir.

Abu Steit highlighted the deeply-rooted relations binding both countries on all official and popular levels, asserting his keenness to achieve agricultural integration with Sudan to raise the standards of food security in both countries.

For his part, the Sudanese minister stressed that there is a joint political will in both countries to boost fruitful cooperation and remove all obstacles between the two.

Both sides agreed to activate the memorandums of understanding that have been signed between both countries in the agriculture, livestock and fisheries sectors.

During the meeting, they probed holding a forum for agricultural investment in the coming year to encourage partnerships between Egyptian and Sudanese investors.

They also agreed to start taking all procedures needed to boost trade exchange of agricultural crops and livestock products between both countries and remove all obstacles that face the flow of exports and imports between them both.
