CAIRO - 19 August 2018: Minister of Communication and Information Technology Amr Talaat conferred on Sunday with Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Song Aiguo on means of boosting cooperation between Egypt and China in the field of information and communication technology and the ICT role in revving up the Egyptian economy.

In a statement of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Talaat asserted the effective role of the Chinese companies operating in the Egyptian market in the domains of communications, fiber-optics and smart meters.

During the meeting, Talaat reviewed the most important projects implemented by the ministry to carry out the State's strategy for digital transformation.

He spotlighted efforts exerted to develop the sector of communication and information technology and contribute to the country's gross domestic product.

He asserted that the State is keen on localizing the industry of electronics and supporting technological innovation.

Song lauded the economic reform measures carried out in Egypt, asserting that they have started to bear fruit.

Both sides asserted the depth of the Egyptian-Chinese relations and the ambassador highlighted cooperation with Egypt in the areas of electronics and cybersecurity, noting that a high-level delegation of the Cyberspace Administration of China will be visiting Cairo next month to probe further cooperation.
