CAIRO - 3 May 2018: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) announced on Thursday the renewal of treasury bills worth $1.1 billion for local banks and international institutions bought in May last year.

A statement issued by CBE said the date of offering the bills will be May 8, adding the banks and institutions will have the right to apply for them until May 7.

Offering the bills came upon the request of the local banks and international institutions, said a CBE source to MENA.

CBE announced on Thursday an increase in the net foreign currency reserves by $1.418 billion at the end of April to hit $44.029 billion for the first time in history.

The figure was $42.611 billion at the end of March, according to the bank.
