'Long Live Egypt' fund receives LE 292M over two months

CAIRO - 12 March 2018: The executive committee of "Long Live Egypt" Fund held its periodical meeting on Monday in the presence of Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr, Head of the committee Mohammed Amin Ibrahim, the fund's Executive Director Ibrahim Karam, Fund Financial and Administrative Director Tamer Abdel Fattah.

The meeting reviewed the investment plan of the fund and the recently-launched donation campaign under the name of "Sinai is dear to us".

Meanwhile, Fund Financial and Administrative Director Tamer Abdel Fattah said the total value of donations reached LE 7.7 billion with an interest rate of LE 2 billion, noting that donations over the past two months reached LE 292 million since early January and till March 6.

He also said a campaign under the name of "Bel Hana Wel Shefaa" or "Enjoy your meal" was launched in 27 governments to some 3.5 million families.

Abdel Fattah also said the fund is currently cooperating with the Armed Forces and civil society organizations to provide necessary equipment and appliances as part of the economic empowerment program to the needy people and to create job opportunities. The program includes the distribution of 335 trucks and 21 refrigerator trucks along with the establishment of 200 commercial units in Al Wadi Al Gadid governorate.

Also, the fund has channeled a sum of LE 200 million to 232 of the poorest villages in 15 governorates, he added.

The fund has also allocated a sum of LE 114 million for the project of "Homeless Children" and rehabilitated six child care centers, said head of the societal affairs at the fund Reham Abul Ismail.

As for urban construction, the fund has allocated LE 500 million for the development of Asmarat district 3, Abul Ismail said, adding that construction work is under way to set up a cultural palace and a vocational training camp at the newly established district.
