EGX ends in green, market capitalization gains LE 1B

CAIRO – 22 August 2017: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Tuesday’s session on a positive note, boosted by foreign purchases.

The benchmark index EGX30 added 0.07 percent to close at 13,114 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 rose 0.62 percent to end at 683.78 points. The broader index EGX100 index also went up 0.38 percent to close at 1,550.62 points.

Market capitalization gained LE 1 billion ($56 million), registered LE 693 billion from LE 692 billion on Monday.

Turnover dropped LE 318.3 million to LE 404.7 million after recording LE 723 million Monday, while traded volume also declined to 128.5 million shares, down from 218.8 million shares last session.

Arab and foreign investors were net buyers with a total of LE 8.7 million and LE 323,663, respectively, while local traders sold by LE 9.05 million.

Financial services excluding banks led sectors in terms of traded values and volumes with LE 85.9 million and 48.08 million shares, respectively.

Alexandria Flour Mills topped gainers and skyrocketed 9.99 percent, while Misr Duty Free Shops led the worst performers and slumped 14.4 percent.
