EGX ends in mixed note, benchmark adds 0.61%

CAIRO – 21 August 2017: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) saw a mixed performance at the end of Monday’s session, weighted by local sales.

The benchmark index EGX30 increased 0.61 percent to close at 13,106 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 fell 0.43 percent to end at 697.5 points. The broader index EGX100 index also went down 0.19 percent to close at 1,544.78 points.

Market capitalization registered LE 692 billion ($38.9 billion), slightly up from LE 691.057 billion on Sunday.
Turnover recorded LE 723 million, while traded volume registered 218.8 million shares.
Arab and foreign investors were net buyers with a total of LE 8.7 million and LE 17.7 million, respectively, while local traders purchased by LE 26.5 million.

Financial services excluding banks led sectors in terms of traded values and volumes with LE 137 million and 85 million shares, respectively.

Alexandria Flour Mills topped gainers and surged 9.92 percent, while Alexandria National Company for Financial Investment led the worst performers and slumped 9.7 percent.
