CAIRO - 16 July 2026: Egypt has presented its fourth Voluntary National Review (VNR) on progress toward the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) during the 2026 High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in New York, becoming one of only 10 countries worldwide to have submitted four such reports.

The report was presented by Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom during the UN forum, which is held under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

Prepared in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the report reviews Egypt's progress in implementing the 2030 Agenda and outlines the country's priorities for accelerating sustainable development.

Rostom said the report reflects Egypt's continued commitment to transparency and monitoring progress toward the SDGs despite ongoing global economic and geopolitical challenges.

He noted that the review was prepared through a broad consultative process involving government entities, UN agencies, development partners, the private sector, parliament, youth, civil society, and academia.

The report is built around four main pillars: human development, economic and social development, environment and climate, and governance and partnerships.

It also identifies Egypt's key priorities for the coming years, including advancing structural transformation, increasing private sector participation in economic growth, investing in human capital, supporting the green transition and climate finance, promoting local development, and strengthening governance and sustainable financing.

The 2026 High-Level Political Forum is being held under the theme "Transformative, equitable, innovative and coordinated action for a sustainable future for all." This year's forum features voluntary national reviews from 36 countries, including Egypt, Algeria, Bahrain, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, and Switzerland.
