CAIRO - 20 June 2026: Egyptian agricultural exports of both fresh and dried beans have witnessed a significant leap since the beginning of this year, with total exported quantities exceeding 110,000 tons.
This growth strengthens the position of Egyptian legumes and vegetables in global markets, amidst increasing demand from European and Arab markets.
According to the periodic report issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, beans ranked high on the list of the country's agricultural exports, which have exceeded 5 million tons since the beginning of 2026. This reflects the success of the national strategy to expand export areas and implement a strict coding and quarantine system.
The report also indicated that total exports witnessed a strong influx of several vital crops; Beans were followed by onions, then grapes and strawberries, along with promising quantities of other crops such as: garlic, tomatoes, and guava.
Responsible sources in the agricultural quarantine sector revealed that this outstanding performance is due to the country's success in opening approximately 21 new global markets during the first half of this year in Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
This, coupled with the tightening of technical procedures to ensure Egyptian crops meet the highest international standards, has contributed to enhancing the global competitiveness of Egyptian "green gold" and bolstering the public treasury with foreign currency.
