CAIRO - 7 June 2026: Egypt's Sinai offshore oil fields have achieved their highest daily production rate in eight years, with output reaching approximately 27,000 barrels of crude oil per day, according to the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

The ministry said production from the concession area operated by Italian energy major Eni in partnership with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation has increased by more than 50 percent since the beginning of 2025, marking one of the strongest growth rates recorded in the area in recent decades.

Despite some of the fields having been in operation for more than 60 years, the ministry said a development program launched by Eni across the Gulf of Suez, Sinai, and Nile Delta regions has helped unlock additional production and maximize the value of existing assets.

The increase has added more than 10,000 barrels per day above previous production levels and contributed over 2.8 million barrels in cumulative output since January 2025, according to the ministry.

It attributed the gains to an intensive production enhancement program that included the deployment of advanced technologies, operational efficiency upgrades, reduced downtime, and the resumption of drilling activities during 2026.

The ministry highlighted the performance of wells BM-133 and 113-M-131, which together delivered more than 3,200 barrels of oil per day with almost no associated water production, boosting the overall productivity of the concession area.

Officials said the results underscore the success of efforts to increase output from mature fields through cooperation between EGPC, Eni’s subsidiary IEOC, and Petrobel, supporting Egypt’s energy security goals, reducing reliance on imports, and strengthening domestic oil production.
