Egypt pushes for global grain, oil hub

CAIRO - 21 April 2026: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met with senior cabinet members and officials from the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) and the "Future of Egypt" project to follow up on the establishment of a global hub for the storage, supply, and trade of grains and oils.

The plan follows direct communication between President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and foreign leaders aimed at enhancing food security cooperation. 

Mabdouly revealed that discussions are underway with several countries to set up logistical centers in Egypt. 

Technical studies and negotiations on storage methods are being prepared. These talks follow direct communication between President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and foreign leaders aimed at enhancing food security cooperation. 

Madbouly tasked the Ministry of Supply and the "Future of Egypt" agency with finalizing a detailed feasibility study—including costs, added value, and investment incentives—on an urgent timeline.
