CAIRO - 19 March 2026: Egypt’s Navex Logistics signed a memorandum of understanding with the Saudi Al-Haj Abdullah Ali Reda company to establish an integrated logistics corridor connecting Egypt to the Gulf.

The agreement aims to transform Egypt into a global logistics hub for cargo collection and distribution through a "sea-land bridge" project.

Under the plan, Egyptian ports will link to the Saudi city of Jeddah, from which goods will be transported by land to various Gulf states, according to a Wednesday statement by Navex Chairman Rouhy El-Araby.

The project seeks to provide a fast, secure alternative route to the Strait of Hormuz, which has faced recent shipping challenges due to regional tensions.

Araby noted that the companies are studying the launch of a regular shipping line between Sokhna and Jeddah to ensure the rapid flow of shipments from the Far East and the Mediterranean toward Gulf markets.

The initiative aligns with a joint Egyptian-Saudi vision to enhance economic integration. By leveraging Egypt's geographic position as a link between continents, the corridor will secure the flow of Gulf exports to European markets while maintaining supply chain sustainability away from conflict zones.
