President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi meets John Ardill, VP of ExxonMobil, in the presence of PM Mostafa Madbouly, Petroleum Minister Karim Badawy, and ExxonMobil Egypt’s Chairman Amr Abou Eita – Presidency
CAIRO – 12 October 2025: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has underscored the importance the Egyptian state places on natural gas exploration projects as he met on Sunday with John Ardill, Vice President of Global Exploration at American multinational oil and gas corporation ExxonMobil.
Sisi emphasized Egypt’s commitment to removing obstacles and facilitating procedures to advance these projects.
The president said Egypt looks forward to ExxonMobil intensifying its exploration and development activities in the country, employing the latest drilling technologies to boost production rates and enhance national energy security.
Sisi commended ExxonMobil as a strategic partner for Egypt in the energy sector.
He expressed his appreciation for the company’s vital role in supporting the petroleum and gas industry within the Egyptian market.
He also praised the company’s continuous commitment to participating in various initiatives and activities launched by the national petroleum sector, reflecting the deep strategic partnership between the two sides.
The meeting followed up on developments in several of the company’s concession areas, particularly in the Mediterranean region.
The president reviewed future prospects for cooperation between the Egyptian government and ExxonMobil, in light of Egypt’s rapid development in the energy sector.
For his part, Ardill presented a detailed briefing on operations in the company’s two Mediterranean concession areas, “Cairo” and “Masry.”
Ardill underlined the use of the latest drilling technologies and intensified exploration efforts following seismic surveys, as part of the company’s pursuit of new discoveries to strengthen Egypt’s position as a regional energy hub.
Attending the meeting, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi reviewed available investment opportunities in exploration and research.
The minister affirmed that ExxonMobil is among Egypt’s leading international partners in the petroleum and gas sector due to its advanced expertise and cutting-edge technical capabilities.
Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Chairman and Managing Director of ExxonMobil Egypt Amr Abou Eita attended the meeting.
