Cairo – April 22, 2025: Egypt recorded a total foreign trade volume of $32.24 billion in the first quarter of the 2024/2025 fiscal year, according to figures published by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE). The trade activity consisted of $23.15 billion in imports and $9.09 billion in exports.
The CBE’s report also pointed out that trade with 14 key international partners made up about 68.3 percent of the overall figure, collectively reaching $22.03 billion. These trade relationships included $15.93 billion in imports and $6.09 billion in exports.
Among Egypt’s top trading partners, the United States ranked first during this period. Bilateral trade between the two countries stood at $3.04 billion, with Egyptian imports from the U.S. totaling $1.92 billion and exports to the U.S. reaching $1.13 billion.
The United Arab Emirates followed closely with $2.86 billion in trade, consisting of $1.71 billion in imports and $1.16 billion in exports. China ranked third, posting a trade volume of $2.68 billion—driven overwhelmingly by imports at $2.61 billion, compared to just $66.7 million in exports.
Saudi Arabia was the fourth largest trading partner, with trade worth $2.34 billion, including $1.91 billion in imports and $431.7 million in exports. Italy came in fifth at $1.52 billion, with imports at $914.6 million and exports totaling $607.7 million.
Germany recorded a total trade volume of $1.46 billion, with Egypt importing $1.02 billion and exporting $441.1 million. Turkey followed with $1.40 billion in trade, made up of $656.8 million in imports and $447.2 million in exports.
Other notable trade partners included the United Kingdom at $1.23 billion ($631.3 million in imports and $602.2 million in exports), and Switzerland at $1.21 billion ($631.8 million in imports and $576.6 million in exports). Brazil’s trade with Egypt totaled $1.15 billion, with imports dominating at $1.07 billion and exports at just $73.6 million.
Rounding out the list, Russia recorded $1.08 billion in trade with Egypt, followed by India at $763.2 million, the Netherlands at $652.1 million, and France at $630.2 million.
Meanwhile, trade with countries outside of the top 14 amounted to $10.21 billion—$7.22 billion in imports and $3.00 billion in exports.
