CAIRO - 5 February 2024: The value of trade exchange between Egypt and Libya marked an increase of 42 percent, to record $1.7 billion during the period from January to November 2023, compared to $1.2 billion during the same period in 2022, according to data released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
During the first 11 months of 2023, the value of Egyptian exports to Libya increased to record $1.6 billion, compared to $1.1 billion during the same period in 2022, an increase of 48 percent.
The most important commodities that Egypt exported to Libya during 2023 are: ceramics and stones worth $322.5 million, plastics worth $145.8 million, fuel and oils worth $123.4 million.
According to the data, the value of Egypt’s imports from Libya reached $61.7 million, compared to $85.5 million during the same period in 2022, a decrease of 28 percent. The most important commodities that Egypt imported from Libya during 2023, Iron and steel valued at $39.2 million, and inorganic chemical products worth $15.3 million.
The value of Libyan investments in Egypt recorded $19.9 million during the FY 2022/2023 compared to $19.3 million during the FY 2021/2022, an increase of 3.1 percent.
This data came in line with the meeting between President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Libyan Presidential Council, Mohammed El-Menfi during his visit to Egypt.
