EGX loses LE10.3B of market cap. at beginning of December amid Arab selling

CAIRO - 3 December 2023: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) showed a mixed performance during December’s first trading session, losing around LE 10.3 billion of market capitalization, amid Arab selling.
 
The benchmark EGX30 decreased 0.66 percent, or 163.41 points, to end at 24,571.98 points.
 
On the other hand, the small and mid-cap index EGX 70 rose 0.56 percent, or 29.62 points, to close at 5,304.55 points.
 
The broader index EGX 100 increased 0.53 percent, or 40.34 points, to 7,686.25 points.
 
Market capitalization lost around LE 10.3 billion, recording LE 1.666 trillion, compared to around LE 1.677 trillion in Thursday’s session.
 
The trading volume reached 1.34 million shares, traded through 137,657 transactions, with a turnover of LE 3.51 billion.
 
Arab investors were net sellers at LE 33.19 million, while Egyptian and foreign investors were net buyers at LE 29.65 million, and LE 3.54 million, respectively.
 
Taqa Arabia, Ibnsina Pharma, and Lecico Egypt were top gainers of the session at 19.96 percent, 15.56 percent and 11.60 percent, respectively.
 
Meanwhile, Asek Company for Mining - Ascom, ODIN Investments, and Acrow Misr were top losers of the session by 11.88 percent, 9.64 percent, and 7.53 percent, respectively.
