CAIRO - 18 September 2023: Egyptian imports of mobile phones recorded a marginal increase in the recent period, according to data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), as the value of imports of telephone devices for individuals amounted to about 564 thousand dollars last June, compared to 528 thousand dollars in the same month in 2022, an increase of 36 thousand dollars. dollar.
 
Egypt's imports of mobile phones declined significantly last May, as their total value amounted to only about 282 thousand dollars, while it was about 13 million and 595 thousand dollars in May 2022, a decline of about 13 million and 313 thousand dollars.
 
The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics announced that the value of the deficit in the trade balance amounted to $2.32 billion during the month of last June, compared to $4.43 billion for the same month of the previous year, a decline of about 47.7%.
 
Foreign Trade Bulletin data showed a decline in the total value of imports last June, reaching about $5.23 billion, compared to $8.45 billion for the same month of the previous year, a decline of 38.1%.
 
The report issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics attributed this decline to a decrease in the value of imports of some commodities, the most important of which are petroleum products by 37.8%, followed by wheat by 9%, and raw materials of iron or steel by 42.7%, in addition to corn imports by 42.4%.
