Over 2K Chinese firms have investments in Egypt worth $8B: GAFI chairman

CAIRO – 20 February 2023: Chairman of the General Authority for Free Zones and Investment (GAFI) Hossam Heiba stated Monday that the total value of Chinese investments in Egypt is $8 billion.

 

There are 2,066 Chinese firms operating in the sectors of fiberglass, home appliance, textiles, food processing, and animal feed among others, Heiba elaborated during a panel discussion held by the Egyptian Businessmen's Association (EBA).

 

The official noted that Egypt looked forward to attracting more Chinese investments, and that the country's investment map offers more than 2,700 opportunities, shedding light on the fact that Egypt is part of The Belt and The Road Initiative.  

 

The GAFI chairman also showcased the Golden License made available to companies founded to build strategic projects, pointing out that one had already been issued to China's Haier specialized in home appliance.
