Significant rise in Egypt's revenues of exports, Suez Canal: Report

CAIRO - 5 November 2022: A report was recently issued by MAAT highlighting the significant increase in exports, upping the country's income during the year 2021. 

The report said that Egypt's exports was high during the first four months of the year 2021, where non-petroleum exports recorded an increase of 11%, compared to an increase in its imports by 5%. 

The report also mentioned that Egypt's foreign trade movement flourished during the same period, where commodity exports increased by 26% by the end of the year. 

Egypt's exports to EU countries rose by 56%, recording more than $9 billion in revenues, compared to $5,881 billion in 2020. While the country's exports to the United States increased by 51%, recording $2,446 billion in 2021.

According to the report, fertilizers, chemical substances, construction materials and food were on the top of the list of the highest exporting sectors during the year of 2021. 

Egypt's exports of engineering and electronic materials also jumped by 46%, recording $3,387 billion in 2021. 

The Suez Canal also seeks to increase its revenues by the end of the current year to $7 billion
