EGX ends Sunday in green, market cap. gains LE 2.68B

CAIRO - 23 May 2021: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Sunday’s session in green, adding around LE 2.68 million to market capitalization, amid Egyptian and Arab buyers.

The benchmark EGX30 increased 0.75 percent, or 80.1 points, to end at 10,812.06 points.

The equally weighted index EGX 50 hiked 0.51 percent, or 11.14 points, to end at 2,205.32 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX 70 rose 1.31 percent, or 29.29 points, to close at 2,258.44 points, and the broader index EGX 100 jumped 1.04 percent, or 33.18 points, to close at 3,214.3 points.

Market capitalization gained around LE 2.68 billion, recording LE 674.58 billion, compared to LE 671.89 billion in Thursday’s session.

The trading volume reached 659.56 million shares, traded through 51,930 transactions, with a turnover of LE 1.29 billion.

Foreign investors were net sellers at LE 25.88 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net buyers at LE 18.68 million, and LE 7.19 million, respectively.

Egyptian and foreign individuals were net sellers at LE 32.38 million, and LE 3.67 million, respectively, while Arab individuals were net buyers at LE 20.9 million.

Arab and foreign organizations sold at LE 13.72 million, and LE 22.2 million, respectively, while Egyptian organizations bought at LE 51.07 million.

Egyptian Iron & Steel, Marsa Marsa Alam for Tourism Development, and El Arabia for Land Reclamation, were top gainers of the session at 9.71 percent, 9.54 percent and 9.39 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, Golden Textiles & Clothes Wool, El Obour Real Estate Investment, and ARAB POLVARA SPINNING & WEAVING CO. were top losers of the session by 9.83 percent, 9.53 percent, and 9.33 percent, respectively.

EGX ended Thursday in red, as: EGX30 declined 0.69 percent, EGX 50 dropped 0.53 percent, EGX 70 lessened 0.54 percent, and EGX 100 decreased 0.62 percent.
