EGX ends week in red, market cap. gains LE 6.05B

CAIRO - 20 May 2021: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Thursday’s session in red, despite adding around LE 6.05 million to market capitalization, amid foreign selling.

 

 

The benchmark EGX30 declined 0.69 percent, or 74.27 points, to end at 10,731.96 points.

 

 

The equally weighted index EGX 50 dropped 0.53 percent, or 11.62 points, to end at 2,194.18 points.

 

 

The small and mid-cap index EGX 70 decreased 0.54 percent, or 12.21 points, to close at 2,229.15 points, and the broader index EGX 100 lessened 0.62 percent, or 19.7 points, to close at 3,181.12 points.

 

Market capitalization gained around LE 6.05 billion, recording LE 671.89 billion, compared to LE 665.84 billion in Wednesday’s session.

 

The trading volume reached 760.27 million shares, traded through 51,664 transactions, with a turnover of LE 1.56 billion.

 

Foreign investors were net sellers at LE 92.07 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net buyers at LE 46.32 million, and LE 45.75 million, respectively.

Arab and foreign individuals were net buyers at LE 91.76 million, and LE 669,731, respectively, while Egyptian individuals were net sellers at LE 1.94 million.

Egyptian and foreign organizations old at LE 45.44 million, and LE 92.74 million, respectively, while Arab organizations bought at LE 47.69 million.

 

Integrated Diagnostics Holdings plc, Gharbia Islamic Housing Development, and Mansourah Pourtly, were top gainers of the session at 367.01 percent, 12.48 percent and 7.86 percent, respectively.

 

Meanwhile, Modern Shorouk Printing & Packaging, Golden Textiles & Clothes Wool, and ARAB POLVARA SPINNING & WEAVING CO. were top losers of the session by 9.99 percent, 9.99 percent, and 8.29 percent, respectively.

 

EGX ended Wednesday in green, as: EGX30 rose 0.23 percent, EGX 50 hiked 1.07 percent, EGX 70 climbed 0.48 percent, and EGX 100 jumped 0.43 percent.

 

Egypt’s banks and bourse were off from Wednesday, May 12, till Sunday, May 16. These holidays come in celebration of Eid Al-Fitr.
