CAIRO – 4 July 2017: Egyptian exports to regional economic blocks increased by 52 percent in 2016, Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced on Tuesday.

Egyptian exports increased from LE 171.4 billion ($9.5 billion) in 2015 to reach LE 206.6 billion in 2016, according to CAPMAS annual report.

Regional economic blocks include Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa “COMESA”, Community of Sahel-Saharan States “CEN-SAD”, Economic and Social Commission for West Asia” ESCWA”, Group of FIFTEEN, Free Arab Trade Zone “FATZ”, and Developing Islamic Eight Countries Community.

FATZ came first with an exports volume of LE 100 billion in 2016, while it reached LE63 billion in 2015 with an increase rate of 57 percent, followed by ESCWA that received Egyptian exports volume of LE 81 billion in 2016 reaching LE 47.8 billion in 2015 with an increase rate of 71.1 percent.

The report showed that total Egyptian imports from these blocks increased from LE 231.5 billion in 2015 to LE 280.9 billion in 2016 in with increase rate of 21.4 percent.
