CAIRO - 6 April 2026: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad Nabil Habash met with Egyptian Community in Iraq, as part of the efforts to monitor the conditions of Egyptian communities in Gulf States amid the ongoing regional war.

 

 

During the meeting, the Deputy Minister underscored the importance of strengthening direct communication with Egyptian communities across the Gulf and Iraq to closely monitor their conditions, ensure their well-being, and provide necessary support, particularly in light of current exceptional circumstances.

 

 

He noted that the overall situation of Egyptian communities in the region remains stable and reassuring, while stressing the importance of complying with the laws and regulations of host countries, namely those issued by Iraqi authorities. 

 

 

He also praised the efforts of the Egyptian Embassy in Baghdad and the consulates in Basra and Erbil for their active role in supporting the community, facilitating consular services, and helping ensure the safety and well-being of Egyptian nationals.

 

 

The meeting featured an interactive discussion, during which community members raised various concerns and inquiries. The Deputy Minister listened attentively and engaged with participants, reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to providing continuous support and care as part of its mission to serve Egyptians abroad.

 

 

The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including Haddad El-Gohary, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Consular Affairs and Egyptians Abroad; Ahmed Samir, Egypt’s Ambassador to Baghdad; Khaled El-Abyad, Ambassador to Jordan; Mohamed Gaber Abu El-Wafa, Ambassador to Kuwait; as well as Egypt’s consuls in Basra, Erbil, Aqaba, and Kuwait.
