CAIRO – 24 December 2020: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi called for providing civil construction companies with the necessary financial resources, so that they continue executing various national developmental projects nationwide, the Presidency said.

Sisi’s remarks came as he met with chief of the Armed Forces’ Finance Authority Ahmed El-Shazly on Thursday.

The president urged securing the required fund for these firms, in a way that contributes to expediting the completion of the developmental projects, according to the specified timelines and the highest standards.

This should help boost the economic and investment value these projects add to the national economy, the president said.

During the meeting, Sisi and Shazly discussed the current status of the national project for the development of Egyptian villages, within the framework of “Decent Life" program.

Sisi affirmed the need to assure financial flows for this project and intensify work in a harmonious manner among all concerned state sectors.

This can be done by focusing on all aspects of development: construction, service and living, thus reducing poverty rates, developing infrastructure and providing basic services to citizens, the Presidency added.

New phase

Meeting under Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli last week, the Cabinet reviewed preparations to implement a new phase of the presidential “Decent Life” initiative, which aims to improve services offered to limited income brackets in rural areas, MENA reported.

The meeting was attended by Education Minister Tareq Shawqi, Planning Minister Hala el Saeid, Local Development Minister Mahmoud Sharaawy, Health Minister Hala Zayed, Housing Minister Essam el Gazzar, Social Solidarity Minister Nevine Qabbaj, Trade and Industry Minister Nevine Gamae and chairman of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Maj. Gen. Ehab el Far.

This meeting is meant to activate a new phase of “Decent Life” in order to include 1,000 pools of rural residents across Egypt, Madbouli said.

The Housing Ministry and the Armed Forces Engineering Authority will be in charge of infrastructure projects in targeted villages, the premier said, adding that other ministries will be tasked with operation in a later stage.

Madbouli said his government is seeking to upgrade integrated centers in governorates to be able to extend services to all citizens, thus achieving integrated development.

Development and service projects should be implemented in at least one district of each governorate, the prime minister noted.

Districts will be determined for implementation to start as soon as possible, Madbouli said.

It is important, he added, to have industrial projects and crafts complexes in those districts.

He also touched upon lending, family planning, women health and literacy programs that should be implemented hand in hand with development projects.

Sisi has assigned the government to start implementing those projects as early as January, Madbouli told the ministers, stressing the need to outline a clear deadline and plan for each district.
