A new furniture stores ticks just the right boxes
By Rana Kamaly
Last week, on July 8, a new furniture showroom opened in Nasr City. But Blend isn't just another addition to Nasr City's many, many furniture stores — it is simply fresh. It is hard to combine good designs, nice quality and good prices. So when I first saw Blend's window display and exteriors, I thought to myself it was another neatly designed yet unaffordable store. I was in for a very nice surprise, however. Blend's prices are mostly very affordable without compromising the quality or designs, which were both simply amazing and had a great combination of different styles from various local and international brands. What's even better, is that it's not only sales people in the store trying to push you to buy one design or another, there are professional architects who offer you advice on whatever you need. A personal experience "Even if we don't have the product the client is searching for, we offer him advice on where to find it and if we know those outlets we make calls and ask for a discount for our client," says Ramy Effat, one of the owners. "We don't want to be just another showroom, we want to service the client as well and help them figure out the perfect blend they want for their homes," he added. The staff and owners know perfectly well that everyone has his own perfect blend for an ideal home, and so they aim to help you create it, Effat explains. Even though it's located in the noisy Nasr City, the showroom is really quite and peaceful and the layout is perfect for browsing at your own pace.
When my fiancé and I went in, I was looking for a dining table that looked authentic, new and ethnic. We were greeted warmly by an architect named Simone, she showed us around what they had in the showroom, but there was nothing for us. So she opened the showroom's website and showed us other tables they had and I found one I fell in love with, and the price was reasonable given the quality of their products. Simone promised to bring the set in the showroom for me to look at physically and was really helpful in offering us tips on what could work best for our place. Combining quality, design and price for a perfect Blend According to Effat, they are a showroom driven by quality and design, putting into consideration the price as well. "Whenever there is a nice design that we like, we make sure that it's with the highest quality standards and that the price is good and we immediately get it," he says. They showcase Turkish and Indonesian furniture, in addition to some local Egyptian designers, such as Joud, N designs, Cairo and stuffedpiegon.com. So they basically have something for every taste. Their slogan, "We are Blend, and we intend to keep it this way" says it all. But because Blend showcases the products of other suppliers, alteration isn't always an option. "It always depends on the design, if the supplier allows customization on the design then sure, if not we try to find alternatives. But we are not big fans of alterations because a design is what it is because of its proportions," Effat says. The local designers of the brands available try to be present at the showroom at least once a week to communicate with clients in person. Tip: It's always better to view their website before you go so you see the whole collection and ask for what you like even if its not available on the spot in the showroom.
