Despite widespread optimism following the revolution, there are still a lot of people who think the grass is greener on the other side of the Mediterranean. More than 180 Egyptians narrowly avoided death in two separate attempts to illegally immigrate to Europe. The Egyptian navy forces succeeded in stopping (and saved from drowning) 87 Egyptians attempting to surreptitiously reach Italy. They didn’t get very far: They were plucked from the waters after their fishing boat sank by the North Coast’s area of Borg El Arab. Another 94 Egyptians had to be rescued by the Greek navy after their fishing boat capsized trying to sneak over to Crete.
