CAIRO – 2 January 2020: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi reiterated Egypt’s full support to Sudan in various fields, as he received a phone call from Chief of Sudan’s Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah Al Burhan on Saturday.

Sisi greeted Burhan on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Sudanese independence, affirming support to Sudan based on the firm ties between the Egyptian and Sudanese national security and the historic relations gathering peoples of the two states.

Burhan hailed long-standing social and governmental rapprochement between the Egyptian and Sudanese governments and people.

He also praised the mutual efforts to boost cooperation between the two countries and the Egyptian efforts to preserve the safety and stability of Sudan.

During the phone call, the two leaders discussed updates of the regional issues of mutual concern. They agreed on the need to continue intensive coordination in this regard during the coming period.

Egypt has provided support to Sudan especially during crises, including providing medical supplies to help Sudan face the coronavirus crisis and sending humanitarian aid to the African country following devastating floods last year.
