CAIRO – 1 July 2017: The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Foreign Affairs tweeted on Saturday condemning Qatar for exposing the national security of the country to danger by breaching its former promises to cease supporting terrorism across the region.

The tweet included the following points:

- All endeavors with Doha have failed as it did not abide by recurring demands, the last of which were in 2013 and 2014.

- Qatar did not fulfill its promises to end support for and funding of terrorist activity, and not to intervene in other states’ internal affairs.

- The purpose of the decision to cut diplomatic ties with Qatar is to rectify the current situation and eliminate the funding of sources of terror and extremism.

- The boycott sends a message stating “we have had enough” and that it is not possible for Doha to continue adopting the same foreign policy.

Saudi Arabia, along with Egypt, Bahrain and the UAE cut their diplomatic ties with Qatar on June 5 on the grounds of the Gulf nation’s continued support for terror activity across the Middle East region.
