CAIRO - 14 August 2020: Egypt recorded, Wednesday, 145 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, upping the total number of confirmed cases to 96108.
 
In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 22 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 5107.
 
As many as 989 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 56890 so far, the spokesman said.
 
Statistics for the Ministry of Health and Population revealed last week that the recovery rates for people infected with coronavirus in quarantine hospitals have risen to 53.1 percent for the first time since the beginning of the crisis.
 
On July 26, head of the Health Ministry’s coronavirus (COVID-19) committee Hossam Hosni said that Egypt has so far received voluntary plasma donors in 15 centers nationwide, He added that convalescent plasma of 420 donors has been accepted, with a success rate of 60 percent in critical and severe cases.
