Shoukry stresses Egypt’s support to Lebanon as 4th relief airlift lands in Beirut

CAIRO – 12 August 2020: As the fourth plane carrying Egyptian relief lands in Lebanon, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry ensured that “Egypt will not stop sending assistance to the Lebanese people.”

 

Shoukry visited Beirut on Tuesday to show solidarity after Lebanon’s devastating port explosions.

 

“Egypt is supporting Lebanon and will provide everything that can help the country overcome the effects of the port blast,” Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said.

 

He added in statements to Al-Arabiya news channel that Egypt is communicating with all the concerned parties in order to achieve security and stability for Lebanon and repair what was destroyed during this explosion.

 

Brigadier General Suhail Najm, representative of the Lebanese Armed Forces Commander, expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to Egypt for its swift support to Lebanon through the establishment of an urgent relief airlift, in order to help Lebanon overcome the repercussions of the devastating explosion that has occurred in Beirut recently.

 

Brigadier General Negm confirmed - in a statement to the Middle East News Agency (MENA) when he officially received the cargo of the fourth plane from the Egyptian relief airlift upon its arrival at Beirut airport, that Egypt had always stood by Lebanon and was keen to support it in all circumstances.

 

The fourth airlift carried 14 tons of food aid (flour).
