CAIRO – 12 May 2020: Minister of Defense and Military Production and General Commander of the Egyptian Armed Forces Mohamed Zaki held on Tuesday a video-conference meeting with students and faculty members at military academies and colleges.

The meeting was also attended by Chief of Staff Mohamed Farid, branch commanders, and other high-ranking commanders.

Such meetings are held regularly to follow up on the educational process, keep in touch with students, and recently, ensure protective measures against COVID-19 are maintained.

The minister delivered the greetings of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, commander-in-chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces. Zaki highlighted that youth represent the hope for the country to achieve glory by virtue of their strong willpower, and determination to overcome obstacles.

The general commander asserted that the Egyptian Armed Forces offer all means of capacity-building to young generations entitled to protect and defend the homeland.

The minister held a dialogue with students and faculty as he listened to their views and queries over different challenges facing the Egyptian state currently. The general commander praised their awareness and consciousness of developments that influence Egypt's national security.

The minister pointed out that the Egyptian Armed Forces fulfill its duties par excellence on all strategic fronts to secure the homeland's borders in parallel to supervising the accomplishment of national mega projects and aiding state institutions against the spread of COVID-19.

At the end, the general commander stressed the maintenance of military discipline, physical fitness, technical skills, and self-confidence among students. He also recommended regular reading, and follow-up of updates and developments.
