CAIRO – 21 June 2017: The Muslim Council of Elders, under Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb, strongly condemned the June 19 terrorist attack in the Champs-Elysées on Tuesday.

In a statement, the council stressed the necessity of confronting such terrorist attacks that aim at undermining the security and stability of societies.

The council affirmed full solidarity with France in the face of terrorism, urging more cooperation between international powers to “eradicate” the “evil” of terrorism.

Paris was hit by a terrorist attack Monday involving a motorist who was killed after he plowed his car into a police convoy heading down the Champs-Elysées, a major Paris avenue.
