STOCKHOLM – 19 February 2020: Egyptian Omnia el-Omrani – the Liaison Officer for Public Health Issues at the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations – called Wednesday upon governments to engage youth in the process of achieving road safety goal.

Omrani made a powerful speech in the beginning of the 3rd Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety in Stockholm, where she attracted great reactions from participants, who were moved by her enthusiasm speaking about road accidents being the leading cause of death of youths.

“Enough is enough,” said Omrani, adding that “it is time to take actions, no more fake promises, no more false commitments.”

Omrani urged decision makers to move towards achieving the goal, as she said, “We have creativity and passion, and want you to work with us…together with your political will, we will make powerful alliance.”

In her statements to Egypt Today, Omrani explained that young leaders from over 74 countries met Tuesday, where over 100 delegates participated at the second world youth assembly, adding that “the idea of the assembly is a youth declaration statement, which includes challenges that we face across five continents, demands, call to actions and commitments.”

“We have demands for road safety, but we are also committed to work together with the policy makers to implement effective policies and fight road safety crisis,” she continued.

Omrani participates in the 3rd Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety that kicked off in Stockholm Wednesday, and is attended by his Majesty King of Sweden Carl XVI Gustaf and 1,700 delegates from 140 countries to share successes and lessons from implementation of the Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020.

She has graduated in Ain Shams Faculty of Medicine, and she also serves as the co-chair of the Second World Youth Association, and is a member of the International Youth for Road Safety organization.
