Mashat voices keenness to promote partnership with UNDP

CAIRO, Feb 15 (MENA) - Minister of International Cooperation Rania al Mashat asserted the Egyptian government's keenness on furthering partnership with the UN Development Program (UNDP) and working for empowering women at the economic and social levels.

At a meeting with UNDP Deputy Regional Director for Arab States Sarah Poole, Mashat said that her ministry is working to link all development projects with the sustainable development goals.

Mashat asserted the importance of increasing funding for the private sector, which she said participates in the development process, with an aim to achieve integration between the development partners and the private sector.

Meanwhile, Poole said the UNDP is keen to boost cooperation with Egypt to achieve development success in various fields and to achieve integration between the UN projects and the program's activities in Egypt.

She hailed the Egyptian government's economic reform program which includes development projects that help attain the sustainable development goals.

The UNDP is keen to engage in partnership with the private sector in development projects, she said.

She also shed light on the Knowledge Week for Sustainable Development in Egypt which is organized by the UNDP here to help Arab states formulate forward-thinking strategies to support knowledge.
