Minister of International Cooperation
The new Ambassador of Korea to Egypt, Kim Yong-hyon, and Egypt’s Minister of International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat, signed an implementation agreement on Monday to manufacture and provide metro trains for the second and third lines of Cairo Metro.
Both parties signed a non-binding agreement to explore cooperation in renewable energy and green fuels including ammonia and hydrogen.
The Egyptian Minister is scheduled to speak at a number of events and discussion sessions, and to hold a number of bilateral meetings with multilateral and bilateral development partners.
Minister of International Cooperation Rania A. Al-Mashat began her agenda at the World Economic Forum Annual Meetings 2023 in Davos by participating in the launch of the “Giving to Amplify Earth Action” (GAEA);
According to Mashat, financing sources would include the State General Budget and the private sector, in addition to easy financing through development companies.
This included $11.1 billion directed to sovereign projects across various economic activities and $2.6 billion for the private sector.
This comes In the light of COP27, being held from 6 November until 18 November 2022 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, and in the presence of leaders and heads of state, United Nations organizations and international institutions.
Earlier, Mashat held a meeting with 15 national bodies at the beginning of July to discuss the report's first draft.
This falls within the context of strengthening international efforts to preserve the climate and environment, and to push for multilateral cooperation in financing the green transition and in stimulating urgent climate action.
The Minister held a bilateral meeting with Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, United Nations Secretary-General's Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development, to deepen financial inclusion in Egypt and particularly in the rural areas.
To map out SDG progress and achieve Communication for Development goals (C4D), the Ministry of International Cooperation’s SDG mapping activities includes carrying out field visits to Egypt’s different cities and regions, as incorporating the SDGs into local contexts is essential for the effective implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
During her current visit to the UK, Mashat tackled the institute's participation in the International Cooperation Ministry's initiative to outline an international framework for an innovative fund that would enhance the climate fund and support the green transition.
The Minister of International Cooperation, during her GSK interview on ‘Breaking the Gender Bias’ held on International Women’s Day, shared her own golden rules for women to succeed and create less room for bias to creep in, and to define specific goals or metrics for success to help them evaluate their accomplishments.
During the meeting, the Minister of International Cooperation noted that Egypt seeks to strengthen bilateral cooperation with regional partners and optimize the mutual benefits that both countries can obtain through this partnership.
Al-Mashat expressed that hosting COP 27 in Sharm El-Sheikh enhances the country’s leading position in Africa in terms of the green transformation, particularly in light of the 2050 National Climate Change Strategy.
The promising companies are expected to participate in the new Africa-France Summit, taking place this October in Montpellier, France with the aim of revamping the relations between Africa and France through novel frameworks and innovative ideas to open the prospects of partnerships between the African continent and France.

In 2020, the Ministry of International Cooperation secured a total development financing worth $457 million through multilateral and bilateral cooperation for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
Worth 197 million euros, the agreements were in line with a state vision to implement development projects in the fields of energy and vocational training, and to encourage participation of the private sector and empower women, Mashaat said in a statement.
Minister of International Cooperation Rania el Mashat said that the government is keen on improving the entrepreneurship and innovation environment in Egypt, with a view to creating new jobs that cope with the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
