CAIRO – 31 January 2020: Minister of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Nabila Makram, and the director of International Organization for Migration (IOM) office in Egypt, has affirmed that Egypt, through its leadership, is keen to communicate and connect with Egyptian citizens abroad, thus a number of national initiatives were launched in this regard.

During an open meeting with a number of Egyptian expatriates that took place in Aswan late Thursday, Makram said Egyptians living abroad have a responsibility to clarify and encounter rumors and erroneous ideas regarding Egypt and its challenges, especially against terrorism and towards building a real development.

The minister further hailed the success achieved by a number of initiatives such as the “Egypt Can” series of conferences that encouraged more Egyptians to attract investors to Egypt.

The fourth edition of the "Egypt Can" meetings took place in December 2018 in the Red Sea Governorate, with the participation of 25 experts in the fields of general, technical and university education.

This edition focused on education as part of Egypt's 2030 strategy to achieve sustainable development by benefiting from the experiences of the Egyptian migrants, which coincides with President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi's announcement of 2019 as the year of education.
