EMA warns of cold weather in 48 hrs, Cairo sees lows of 8°C

CAIRO – 31 December 2019: Egypt’s Meteorological Authority has advised citizens to wear heavy clothes during the New Year celebrations, given that the coming 48 hours will witness a huge drop in temperature.

Director of Weather and Forecasting at the General Authority for Meteorology Mahmoud Shaheen said that although the weather will be stable in different parts of the country, but temperature degree will be less than the normal rate by two to three degrees. In Cairo, the temperature will record lows of 8°C and 9°C during the coming days.

Shaheen added that the temperature degrees will continue to decrease during the coming 48 hours, warning citizens of cold weather during day and night hours.

He further said that the northern parts of the country might witness rainfall and active wind.

Expected temperatures Tuesday come as follows:

Cairo: Highs of 17°C and lows of 9°C
Alexandria: Highs of 17°C and lows of 8°C
Matrouh: Highs of 16°C and lows of 8°C
Sohag: Highs of 18°C and lows of 8°C
Qena: Highs of 19°C and lows of 7°C
Aswan: Highs of 20°C and lows of 8°C
