CAIRO – 13 June 2017: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Culture and Information has blocked access to the official website of beIN Sports, part of the beIN network operating from Qatar, Sky News Arabia reported Tuesday.

Users in Saudi Arabia who try to access the link find an alert saying the website is violating the regulations of the ministry.

The United Arab Emirates had also blocked the website and the channels of the network on June 6, following a decision by several Arab states to cut off diplomatic ties with Qatar over its alleged support for terrorism.

Former Zamalek player and current Wadi Degla coach Ahmed Hossam, commonly known as “Mido” also announced that he would stop working as a sports analyst for the Qatari-owned beIN Sports network.

"Today I apologize. I desist working for beIN Sports," Mido wrote on June 6, on his official Facebook account.
