CAIRO – 2 September 2019: Egypt's Foreign Ministry Sameh Shoukri said that the meeting between the Egyptian president and the Kuwaiti Emir on Sunday in Kuwait did not address the reconciliation with Qatar.

In an interview with MBC Masr, Shoukri said that Doha's response to the reconciliation and the agreement reached by the four Arab countries boycotting Qatar is still negative. Egypt, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have boycotted Qatar since June 2017 over supporting terrorism.

President Abdel Fattah made an official visit to Kuwait, during which he met with Kuwaiti Emir Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber and other high-level officials.

Shoukry said that Sisi's visit discussed preparations for the visit of the Kuwaiti prime minister to Egypt. The visit also included discussing available opportunities for investments in Egypt and Kuwait.

Shoukri hailed the Egyptian-Kuwaiti relations as special, adding that the president and Emir transparently reviewed the many challenges facing the region.

Egyptian Presidency spokesman hailed Sisi's fruitful visit to Kuwait, saying that Egypt has contributed to qualifying Kuwaiti cadres, and had a firm stance on the Gulf War.

In an interview with Ahmed Moussa, spokesman Bassam Radi said the president's meeting with Kuwait's Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber was friendly and fruitful, adding that it discussed issues of mutual concern, especially regional issues related to the security of the region.

Radi said that Kuwait has huge investments in Egypt in developmental and service projects and in other fields, referring to bilateral cooperation at the security and political levels.
