CAIRO – 10 June 2017: The ambassadors of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain to the United Kingdom met Saturday with the permanent under-secretary of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Simon McDonald, in London.

The Arab ambassadors reviewed with McDonald the development of their countries’ decision to cut diplomatic ties with Qatar for its support of terrorism, closing their airspace and seaports to Qatari transportation, Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid told Egypt Today.

The meeting aimed to explain the four Arab countries’ position against the Qatari government’s policies of “supporting and financing extreme and terrorist groups in the Middle East,” Abu Zeid added.

Similar meetings are scheduled to be held in different countries with foreign officials to deliver an accurate image of the Arab countries’ stance towards Qatar’s violations of international law, he added.

Egypt and the three Gulf states announced in a joint statement on Friday that they had included 59 individuals and 12 organizations with ties to Qatar on their terrorism watch lists.
