CAIRO - 4 July 2019: President Abdel Fatah El Sisi issued directives Thursday to the bodies concerned to exert utmost efforts to make basic commodities available for citizens at affordable prices at various outlets nationwide.

The president's remarks came during his meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Supply Minister Ali el Moselhi, Interior Minister Mohamed Tawfiq and Communications Minister Amr Talaat along with General Intelligence Service Director Abbas Kamel, Chief of the Administrative Control Authority Sherif Seif el Din and Deputy Finance Minister for Fiscal Policies Ahmed Kouchouk.

President Sisi urged meeting the citizens' needs at reasonable prices via boosting efforts meant to monitor markets and tighten control over retail outlets to fight monopolistic practices and control prices, presidential spokesman Bassam Radi said.

Sisi also ordered promoting the role of the consumer protection agencies, Radi added.

The strategic stock of basic goods was also reviewed during the meeting in addition to the government's efforts to offer them to citizens, according to Radi
