Cairo - 6 June 2017: The Qatari regime funded terrorist groups with $64.2 billion from 2010 to 2015, Saudi newspaper Al-Sharq claimed Tuesday.

Sources “close to Doha’s government” gave “assurances” that Qatar was involved in “all the terrorist attacks that took place in the region during the last period,” Al-Sharq reported. The report added that the Saudi Arabian government has documents to prove these claims.

The newspaper added that Qatar not only provided financial funding, but also a political cover for those terrorist groups and although Doha criminalizes terrorism and violence inside its borders, it turns a blind eye when they take place inside other “brotherly Arab countries.”

Al-Sharq mentioned that the list of Qatari-backed terrorist groups includes the Muslim Brotherhood, the Islamic State, Al-Qa’eda, Jabhat Al-Nusra and with a number of internationally wanted terrorists.

Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Libya and Yemen decided to cut all diplomatic ties with Qatar for its “continuous support for terrorism,” closing their airspace and seaports for Qatari transportation, on Monday.

Tensions between Qatar and the other Arab states strained after Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani directed a message to four Arab countries in which he attacked Egypt, Bahrain and the UAE for their attitudes towards Iran.
