CAIRO – 4 June 2017: Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit strongly condemned Saturday night’s deadly terror attacks in London that claimed the lives of seven people and injured 48 others.

“Extremism and terrorism are the biggest challenges facing our world now,” Aboul Gheit said in a Sunday statement, confirming that the attacks contradict all human and religious morals and thus demand immediate and effective movements from the international community.

The Arab League chief also expressed his deep condolences to the U.K. people and government, and wished those injured from the attack a speedy recovery.

Three men drove a van into pedestrians at high speed on London Bridge Saturday night before stabbing revelers on nearby streets. Police arrested 12 people in Barking, east London in connections with the attacks.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack, but British Prime Minister Theresa May blamed “Islamist extremism” in a televised statement on Sunday.
