BEIRUT: 18 January 2019: Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry affirmed on Friday Egypt’s full commitment to supporting Lebanon and its state institutions in a way that helps maintain stability in the country.

During a meeting with Lebanese President Michel Aoun, Shoukry asserted Egypt’s confidence in Lebanon’s state institutions’ ability to form a national government that represents all segments of the Lebanese people.

The top Egyptian diplomat added that Cairo is proud of its close and distinguished relations with Beirut, which he said are an extension of bilateral historic ties between them, Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said in a statement.

Shoukry also conveyed greetings from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Aoun, added the spokesman.

The meeting, he said, took up the latest regional developments, with the two leaders stressing the importance of pushing forward the joint Arab action in the face of the current exceptional crises sweeping the Arab region.
