CAIRO – 2 June 2017: The owner of Azarita leaning building has been arrested by security forces in Alexandria on Friday.

The owner is accused of violating the construction regulations; she has a license for constructing only two-storey building, but she built 12 floors.

Al-Azarita building, an Alexandrian neighborhood, leaned Thursday over another building due to structural damage.

In all 19 families were evacuated from both buildings. No injuries or deaths have been reported.

Building collapses have often occurred in Egypt, with reasons commonly attributed to construction violations and illegal extensions.
