CAIRO - 26 December 2018: The Egyptian Meteorological Authority warned of a wave of unstable weather on Wednesday, accompanied by active wind, rainfall and a remarkable decline in temperatures.

Weather experts said that the wave is expected to reach Cairo on Thursday with the wind to turn dusty; they also expected disorder in maritime navigation.

Weather experts said cold weather will prevail across Egypt, expecting heavy rains to fall on Cairo, the northern coasts and Upper Egypt.

On Thursday, Cairo is expected to see highs of 17°C and lows of 12°C; Alexandria to see highs of 16°C and lows of 11°C and Matrouh to see highs of 16°C and lows of 13°C. In Upper Egypt’s Aswan, the temperature will record highs of 22°C and lows of 12°C.

Friday’s weather will be cold in Cairo and the north of Upper Egypt, while warm weather will cover the south of Upper Egypt during the day, with cold weather at night.

Friday’s weather will be unstable throughout the region. Low and medium clouds are gathering, accompanied by rainfall on the northwestern coasts and areas of the coastal plain, reaching the limit of floods in southern Sinai, southern Upper Egypt.

On Friday, Cairo will witness highs of 18°C and lows of 12 °C, Hurghada will see highs of 20°C and lows of 16°C, the northwest coasts will see highs of 18°C and lows of 14 °C and the northeast coasts will see highs of 18°C and lows of 13°C.

Head of the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) Ahmed Abdel Aal stated on Wednesday that temperatures will continue to decline by 3-4 degrees Celsius across the country until Saturday, with heavy rains expected to fall on the northern coasts.

Abdel Aal advised citizens to wear heavy clothes especially during the late hours and to be cautious while driving, stressing that drivers should not exceed the speed limits prescribed on the highways.
