Al Thani apology to Saudi King Salman over Tamim’s statements

CAIRO – 29 May 2017: Ahmed bin Ali’s family, part of Al Thani, ruling family of Qatar, disowned statements of Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and sent their apology to Saudi people, in official statement released on Monday.

“On behalf of our family and Al Thani family, we extend to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, and all Saudi people, our sincere apology for the insult directed to the king,” the statement reads.

The statement also expressed the family’s apology to United Arab Emirates (UAE) government and people, for all the insults directed by Qatari Twitter users.
Ahmed bin Ali used to be Emir of Qatar following the independence from Britain’s protection.
